TABUK CITY, Kalinga – Six hundred forty-three senior citizens in the province who have not claimed their social pension for the second semester can receive their stipend during the last round of payout on Nov. 25.

Social Welfare and Development Team Head Erlinda Taquiqui urged pensioners to go to the designated payout venues in their barangays or clustered barangays on said date.

She said social workers and concerned local government unit personnel will be stationed in the barangays to assist them.

The province was allotted P39,570,000 for the 13,833 social pensioners in the province.

Taquiqui said the DSWD has also released P5,500 assistance under the Social Amelioration Program (SAP) to 15 out of the 170 drivers affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. They were endorsed by the Land Transportation and Franchising Regulatory Board. Assessment is ongoing for the other applicants to determine their eligibility under the program.

She added review is ongoing for the list of SAP second tranche beneficiaries or those eligible under SAP 1, those with pending grievance, and those affected by lockdowns from Sept. 13 onwards. – Peter A. Balocnit
