HINGYON, Ifugao – Two barangays, a sitio, and a higher education institution were placed under lockdown for Covid-19 preventive measures.
Hingyon Mayor Geraldo Luglug placed Barangay Namulditan under calculated lockdown from July 3 to 7 for contact tracing and quarantine.
Luglug said a police officer assigned in Metro Manila stayed in the town for several days before returning using his private car. He was reportedly swabbed in Taguig using the reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction test but he went home to his hometown in the province without waiting for the result, which turned out to be positive for the SARS-CoV2.
The mayor said that prior to his return to Namulditan, the police officer went to Barangay Impugong in Tinoc, visited his grandmother at Sitio Nunhabatan in Lamut, and met some friends in Poblacion West in Lagawe.
Tinoc Mayor Samson Benito also ordered a lockdown of Barangay Impugong from July 3 to 5, for contact tracing and disinfection.
“Precaution and strict home quarantine is strongly advised to all who had contact with the police officer,” Benito said.
In Lagawe, movement of people to, from, and within Dullagan and Bahawit in Poblacion West has been limited to also facilitate contact tracing and prevent probability of local transmission. All persons who may have come in close contact with the police officer are advised to report to the Municipal Health Office or the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office or the municipal police office.
For Lamut, Mayor Mariano Buyagawan, Jr. ordered the calculated lockdown of Sitio Nunhabatan for two days and advised the residents to stay at home until the completion of contact tracing by the municipal police station.
At the Lamut campus of the Ifugao State University, all onsite transactions have been suspended for contact tracing and disinfection.
The IFSU administration clarified there is no confirmed case in the university but an employee who reported to work last June 29 and 30 was unknowingly exposed to a Covid-19 positive individual. The result of the RT-PCR confirmatory test of said employee is yet to be released though she was non-reactive to the rapid diagnostic test. – Marcelo B. Lihgawon
