More organizations offered helping hands in planting 5,220 more trees for the environment as planting season ends this month.
Teachers’ Camp residents, Baguio City National High School batch ‘84, Baguio chapter of the Baguio Dental Association (BDA), Malcolm Square and Gabriela Silang barangays, business processing company Concentrix, a conglomeration of Knights of Columbus/Bike Scout/Kabalikat Civicom/755 Kafagway base, and Electronic Engineers of The Philippines-CAR chapter started planting on Aug. 30.
Teachers’ Camp residents covered their area with 1,600 various seedlings planted on Aug. 30; while BCNHS batch ‘84 added 120 seedlings to celebrate Baguio Day at Wright Park.
Gabriela Silang and Malcolm Square barangays planted 100 seedlings each at the Botanical Garden and Forbes Park on Sept. 13; while the Baguio Dental Association; Baguio Benguet Chapter with the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology added 1,200 coffee seedlings at the arboretum and Forbes Park last Sept.  15.           
Yesterday, Sept. 17, the Knights of Columbus/Kabalikat Civicom/Bike Scout/755 Kafagway planted 1,000 seedlings at Forbes Park 1 and 2 while the association of Electronic Engineers of the Philippines planted 100 seedlings last Sept. 10 and 17 at the Arboretum.        
On Oct. 1, Concentrix will plant 1,000 seedlings at the Busol and Buyog watersheds.
According to City Environment and Parks Management Office forester Floro Bastian, the 10,000 seedlings target planted for 2022 has been breached. The joint forces of the BDA and BJMP-CAR planted 1,000 more seedlings than the originally planned 200.
All planting activities are in celebration of the Saleng Festival. – Julie G. Fianza
