The Department of Public Works and Highways-Cordillera is putting up 806 isolation and quarantine beds in the region, an official said on Nov. 25.

Engr. Nelia Antonio, chief of the DPWH-Cordillera Maintenance Division, said the government is spending P64,565,394 to complete seven facilities.

Baguio’s former Sto. Niño hospital is being renovated using an allocation of P11.68 million. The facility has 150 beds and is now 82 percent complete.

The P4.45M 10-bed facility in Danglas, Abra is now 50 percent complete, while the P8.12M 20-bed facility in Tublay, Benguet is 47.9 percent complete.

The 20-bed facility in Bauko, Mountain Province with P2.08M budget is 32 percent finished.

Also ongoing are the P12.95M improvement of the Teachers’ Camp health facility in Baguio City which can accommodate 560 beds; the 16-bed facility in Benguet that costs P12.98M; and the 30-bed facility worth P12.25M in Kabugao, Apayao.

Based on the data of the Department of Health-Cordillera on Nov. 24, the region has a total of 410 active cases.

Baguio recorded the most number of active cases with 198 while Benguet has 182. – PNA
