LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – The Department of Public Works and Highways is ready to turn over three isolation facilities with 78 beds to the provincial government of Benguet.
The Benguet Engineering District 1 has completed the 16-bed isolation facility at the Benguet General Hospital compound.
A dorm-type, 42-bed isolation facility in Barangay Ucab, Itogon will also be turned over to the provincial government next week. This facility can be used as a multipurpose hall after the Covid-19 pandemic is over.
The Benguet Engineering District 2 also reported that the 20-bed isolation facility at Ambongdolan, Tublay is ready for turnover.
This brings the province-managed isolation facilities to 413 from 355.
Aside from those already completed, the DPWH BED1 has also allotted P40.6 million for the construction of six more facilities in Barangay Tawang, La Trinidad; Bayabas, Sablan; Ucab, Itogon; Bobok, Bokod; Twin Peaks, Tuba, and another in Kabayan.
This will give an additional 126 beds for towns in southern Benguet.
Based on the report of the Benguet Health Office, there are 1,168 isolation beds at its temporary treatment and monitoring facility in Wangal aside from the 509 beds at community quarantine facilities located in the 13 towns of the province.
There are 52 beds assigned as critical care beds in district hospitals. – PNA
