BONTOC, Mountain Province – The provincial government, in partnership with the Department of Agriculture-Cordillera, disbursed livestock animals to more than 41 farmers in the province on June 17.

Gov. Bonifacio C. Lacwasan, Jr. led the turnover of 19 heads of cattle, one carabao, 50 heads of goat, and 15 heads of sheep to farmers who were affected by Typhoon Ompong and to identified livestock raisers and students of the Farmer Livestock School on Goat Enterprise and Management.

Lacwasan thanked the DA for funding the animal dispersal project, which is seen to help provide income-generating opportunities to the local farmers.

Purchase of animals was allotted from the DA’s regular budget excluding the five heads of cattle that was charged Under DA’s Special Area for Agriculture Development Program.

Aside from the farm animals, ruminant feeds and urea molasses mineral block were also distributed to the beneficiaries. – Erwin S. Batnag
