The municipality of Bontoc has been conferred four awards to include two national awards and two recognitions from the region.
The town is one among four local government units in Mountain Province which has been awarded a High Functionality Rating in the 2022 National Anti-Drug Abuse Councils Performance Award. Bontoc has been conferred the said award for the third time after having been awarded in 2019 and 2020.
Mayor Jerome Tudlong, Jr., Councilor Glenn Bacala, Municipal Local Government Operations Officer Lourdes Claire Peel, Municipal Treasurer Lourdes Austria, Municipal Budget Officer Aida Lingbanan, and Municipal Accountant Yolanda Comafay received the said award at the Manila Hotel, Ermita, Manila on Dec. 13.
Meanwhile, Bontoc received its fifth Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) Award on Dec. 14 also at the Manila Hotel. Bontoc remains the only SGLG awardee in Mountain Province and is now an SGLG Hall of Famer after having been conferred the award in 2015, 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2022.
Further, Bontoc received a Certificate of Achievement from the Bureau of Local Government Finance on Dec. 14 the Hotel Supreme in Baguio City, after having been ranked as top earner in terms of locally-sourced revenues in 2021 among all second class municipalities in the Cordillera.
Furthermore, the Bontoc Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council has been rated “Beyond compliant” in the 2022 Gawad Kalasag Seal for Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Councils and Offices.
Beyond compliant ratings are given to LGUs which exceeded the standards for the establishment and functionality of local disaster and risk reduction and management offices as prescribed in sections 11 and 12 of the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Act.
The awarding ceremony was held at the Newtown Plaza Hotel, Baguio City, on Dec. 15 attended by Tudlong, MDRRMO head Johanna Padaen, and LDRRMO II Meilynne Shalom Ayan. – Christy Mae Che-es
