Six-time world bowling champion Paeng Nepomuceno has facilitated the training of 24 pro-mising youth bowlers during the 1st Youth Bowling Program at the Puyat Center last week.

The first youth bowling program to be held in Baguio after 22 years has been conceptualized by the Summer Capital Tenpin Bowling Association in its bid to propagate the sports where Filipinos have the great potential to become world champions.

SCTBA was grateful Nepomuceno graced the youth program despite the inclement weather experienced in the localities recently.

Nepomuceno, the only Asian to hold a certification from the United States Bowling Congress as a gold level coach, was accompanied by USBC silver coaches Charles Calamba, Dennis Yap, Erwin Cabañero, and Elson Campita.

With support from the city government of Baguio and Sonic Bowl, the participants had a glimpse on how Nepomuceno achieved greatness in the wonderful world of sports, according to Nikko Jayson Go, one of the event organizers.

 The program was two weekly activities with one training session per week.

A competition was also held to monitor the progress of students aged six to 17 years old.

The program also opened an opportunity for competitive students to earn a college scholarship to bow in the United States and other parts of the world. – Harley F. Palangchao
