NEXT TO IMPOSSIBLE? — The prices of rice varieties being sold at the Baguio City Public Market and elsewhere continue to increase the past months, ma-king the campaign promise of President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. to bring down the price of the staple to P20 a kilo “next to impossible”. Even the price of supposed “dog rice” ranges from P38 to P43. The Presidential Communications Office reported on Aug. 18 that Marcos, who also serves as the Agriculture chief, has assured the public the government is keeping a close watch on the supply trends and the rising prices of rice. — Harley Palangchao
