ONE Championship, the biggest sports media property and mixed martial arts promotion in Asia, will stage a stacked card in Manila on Dec. 11.
Millions of fans worldwide expect that the main events of the fight night will feature top Filipino MMA stars at the Mall of Asia Arena.
ONE will be back to action on July 31 in Bangkok, Thailand after almost four months of not holding MMA professional events due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Based on its new schedule, ONE will hold five events in Bangkok until Sept. 18 before it will change its event’s destination to Shanghai, China starting Sept. 25 to October 16 with five events.
ONE will return to its point of origin in Singapore for two events on Oct. 30 and Nov. 20 then in Jakarta, Indonesia on Dec. 4 before Manila will host the ONE; Golden Circle on Dec.11.
Among the fighters in the possible stacked Manila card are those with the famed Team Lakay, such as Eduard Folayang, Kevin Belingon, Danny Kingad, and Lito Adiwang, among others.
If reigning ONE strawweight champion Joshua Pacio will not defend his title before December, he is expected to be in the main events against another top challenger for the title.
Other Filipino fighters expected to see action are Rene Catalan and possibly rising athlete Denice Zamboanga.
As the threat of Covid-19 pandemic still remains, ONE Championship will still conduct closed-door and audience-free events until further notice.
All bouts are broadcast to millions of viewers through live streaming and events are also aired on a delayed telecast.
ONE Championship has established necessary protocols and procedures to ensure all athletes, staff, and contractors operate in a safe and sanitary environment with extensive medical testing, travel history questionnaires, adherence to health protocols and guidelines with sanitation practices, social distancing strategies, daily symptoms monitoring, and personal protective equipment.
“The organization continues to prioritize the health and safety of everyone involved in holding the world’s most exciting martial arts events through meticulous planning and stringent execution,” ONE said in a statement. – Harley F. Palangchao
