To help in the mobility of local police, Benguet caretaker Eric Yap has assured the 13 municipal police stations in the province would receive a new patrol vehicle from the Philippine National Police.

Yap said the mobile patrol vehicles would help the Benguet police to effectively carry out its peacekeeping drive in the province.

The PNP has initially committed to turn over four mobile patrol vehicles and two ambulances to the province.

But Yap has informed PNP Director Guillermo Eleazar the 13 MPS in Benguet need to have their own patrol vehicle due to their wide area of coverage.

“Maganda naman ang response ng PNP na bubuuin iyong 13 na sasakyan at sabay-sabay dadalhin dito sa Benguet para i-turn over sa mga chiefs of police natin,” said Yap.

Last year, Yap donated high-end drones to the 13 MPS in the province to be used in their various operations.

Yap said the drones would serve as a surveillance equipment to the local police force as the province’s terrain proves challenging in carrying out some of their functions.

Some of the areas in the province can only be reached by foot.

Police and other law enforcement operatives are often hard up in catching marijuana growers in the hinterlands of Kibungan as they are can only reach the planting sites on foot.

By the time they reach the site, the cultivators have already fled the area.

This is where the unmanned drone comes in as it is piloted remotely.
