Menard Pecson ruled the open division of the 1st Ambuklao Mountain Challengein Itogon, Benguet, which drew 192 participants on March 27.

It was a back-to-back podium finish for Pecson, who was also the overall champion in the first staging of the Ambuclao MTB Challenge held in Tublay, Benguet on Jan. 30.

Leo Ragel, Albert Ong, JT Gonzales, and Dash Ramos trailed Pecson.

Aezra Liporada ruled the ladies’ open category, trailed by Eisset Liwag, Marissa Cayowet, Sandi Abahan, and Renalyn Malong.

Gio Diego commanded the 17 years old and below followed by Karl Andrei Basto, Henry Palcongan, Ivan Acuin, and Kenneth Pacle.

The 18 to 29 years old saw Giro Emil Garcia leading the race followed by Rafael San Luis, Arnel Padilla Gayao, Mark Benson Dollosa, and Henry Spencer in that order.

Gideon Rex topped the 30 to 39 years old followed by Argor Velo, Heronimo Garcia, Jason Angpeo, and Jake Tacdoy during the event backed by Team Nitro, Team Lakay, Team I-Cordilleran Bikers, and Team Nomads, among other volunteers.

Eric Jess Ulep ruled the 40 to 49 years category followed by Sonny Lamsis, Allan Walang, Gary Padsing, and Laure Sagalla.

For the 50 years old and above, Robert Fontanilla led the group followed by Noel Pelecano, Rene Waje, Ronald Laranang, and Edmund Mendoza.

The event was also supported by Arteos Coffee Shop, Toyville Bike Parts and Accessories Shop, Christian Garcia of Extra Joss, and Baguio Partyland. 

The activity generated P155,433 from the registration and sponsorships, and will benefit chosen schools in Itogon District and Besao, Mountain Province. – Ofelia C. Empian
