PILAR, Abra – The construction of three barangay health centers in this town will soon start after its groundbreaking ceremony recently.

The health centers  to be built  in barangays  Ocup, Gapang, and Nagcanasan will be  funded under the Support to Barangay Development Program (SBDP) 2022 with a budget of P4 million.

Mayor Tyron Beroña and Department of the Interior and Local Government-Abra Director Daisy Payang led municipal and barangay officials and national government agencies in the groundbreaking ceremony at Barangay Ocup.

Beroña encouraged the residents to cooperate religiously in the anti-terrorism campaign of the government particularly Executive Order 70 institutionalizing the whole-of-nation approach in attaining inclusive and sustainable peace.

He reminded the barangay officials to exercise good governance over the projects turned over to them since there are only few barangays in the province that were listed as priorities under the Retooled Community Support Program.

Pilar Liga ng mga Barangay Chair Ronald Tacadan assured said his fellow local officials will take the anti-insurgency campaign of the government seriously.

For this year, there are 11 beneficiaries of the SBDP in the province – three in this town, four in Malibcong, three in Lacub, and one in Tubo.  The SBDP is the hallmark program of the National and Local Task Forces to End Local Communist Armed Conflict with the end goal of bringing development to former conflict-affected communities. – Christian Allister Tubadeza
