Let’s start with a prayer: “Lord Jesus Christ, by Your patience in suffering You hallowed earthly pain and gave us the example of obedience to Your Father’s will. Be near me in my time of weakness and pain;sustain me by Your grace, that my strength and courage may not fail; heal me according to Your will; and help me always to believe that what happens to me here is of little account if You hold me in eternal life, my Lord and my God. Amen.”

A report stated that the Commission on Population is asking that pandemic and disaster preparedness programs must include family planning. This would supposedly build up the resiliency of families and communities in our beautiful but benighted country against calamities.
“Practicing family planning and responsible parenthood should be part of medium to long-term solutions toward building the resiliency of families and communities, as these would enable couples to have greater capacity to ensure their health, financial stability, and other social protections in the future,” a PopCom official was quoted as saying.
This Ibaloy writer is all for family planning and responsible parenthood so kudos to the PopCom official for having the balls to say it. However, good luck going against the all mighty Catholic Church especially when it comes to family planning. Good luck also going against honorable officials who are afraid of the Catholic Church, one of the richest and most powerful organizations on earth.
You would be like Don Quixote fighting against windmills. Next to impossible. No wonder all or most Catholic countries are impoverished and belong to the Third World. I could be wrong, of course.

Here’s “Human Trace” by Robert Murray Smith: “to be a nationality/ we trivialize our beginnings/ as humans we are the same/ to add a name/ we detract from our sameness/ identifying as a race/ negates the human trace.”
