As part of their Public Safety Junior Leadership Course (PSJLC), 54 police officers from the different units in Cordillera conducted a four-day Enhanced Community Immersion Program (ECIP) in Tadiangan, Tuba, Benguet.

Members of  PSJLC Class 2023-04 with class name “Mandirigmang Alagad ng Bayan” (MA-ALAB) held various activities, such as repair of a comfort room, clean-up drive, free haircut, gift-giving, distribution of hygience kits, story telling, house to house visitation, and series of lectures regarding Anti-Bullying, Good Touch and Bad Touch, Crime Prevention Tips, proper handwashing, and basic arnis.

The class repaired and repainted the two-door comfort room of Kiwas Integrated School and conducted clean-up drive along the road of Proper Tadiangan, Tuba, Benguet.

They likewise provided free haircut to the students of the said school and to the residents.

During the four-day activity, members of the class actively participated in the school daily flag raising ceremony and led the morning dance.

They likewise conducted lecture regarding Anti-Bullying, Good Touch and Bad Touch, and Crime Prevention Tips to the 183 students from Grades 4 to 10 of Kiwas Intergrated School.

A lecture regarding proper handwashing and distribution of hygiene kits to the grades 1 and 2 pupils was likewise conducted.

A feeding activity is also conducted for the Kinder 1 and 2 and grades 1 and 2 pupils. They also interacted with the 23 day care pupils through story telling.  

The class likewise conducted house to house visitation and distribution of information education campaign materials regarding Anti-Violence Against Women and their Children and Crime Prevention tips.

Two families were also given 25 kilos rice each, pre-loved clothes, and grocery items.

Members of the class likewise conducted a brief lecture and demonstration on basic arnis to the members of the Barangay Peacekeeping Action Team (BPAT) to enhance their knowledge and skills on self-defense.

A megaphone was also donated for their peacekeeping activities.

The activities were conducted through the support and participation of barangay officials, faculty and staff of Kiwas Integrated School, members of the BPAT, community members, and Kiwas Resort which provided temporary dwelling to the students.

The PSJLC is a mandatory course aimed to enhance the leadership skills of junior police officers in the performance of their duties especially in dealing with the community, underscoring the importance of a harmonious relationship with the community, which is the very essence of the ECIP. – Mary Ann Manawag Pardo
