Personnel of the Police Regional Office-Cordillera have raised P3.4 million for individuals and families affected by the past typhoons in Cagayan Valley and Bicol region.

PRO-Cor Information Officer, Capt. Marnie Abellanida, said the funds came from a portion of the salaries of the policemen and women assigned in various city, municipal, provincial offices, and the regional headquarters.

The Abra Provincial Police Office donated P535,910; Apayao PPO, P157,200; Baguio City Police Office, P509,400; Benguet PPO, P532,500; Ifugao PPO, P320,200; Kalinga PPO, P405,900; and Mountain Province PPO, P283,000.

Personnel of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion also provided P297,500; PRO-Cor headquarters, P249,855; and the PRO-Cor Regional Support Units, P116, 410. 

PRO-Cor Director, B/Gen. R’win Pagkalinawan, turned over the funds through a check worth P2,040,000 to PRO 2 Deputy Director for Administration, B/Gen. Edgar Cacayan, during a ceremony at the Kalinga PPO grounds.

Coordination is being made to PRO 5 for the turnover of P1,367,875 as PRO-Cor’s assistance to the people of Bicol region.

Abellanida said this is the third time that PRO-Cor conducted a fund raising dubbed, “Bayanihan Fund Challenge.”

“The Bayanihan Fund Challenge has been a way for the PNP to share and provide help to those who are in need. Also, the cash donations given are strictly voluntary with no standard amount of contribution specified,” Abellanida said. 

Earlier, P11.7M was raised for the “Kapwa ko, sagot ko” program of the police force while P4.1M was collected for the Sadanga footbridge project in Mountain Province. – Ofelia C. Empian
