TABUK CITY, Kalinga – Police operatives confiscated 35 marijuana bricks weighing 36.602 kilos with an estimated Dangerous Drugs Board value of P4.3 million.
Personnel of the Tabuk City Police Station (CPS) were traversing Sitio Banat, Bagumbayan, this city when the driver of a motorcycle without license plate overtook the police vehicle and tumbled on the shoulder of the road.
Policemen helped the rider but while doing so, they noticed the partly open bag of the rider which contained bricks of suspected dried marijuana.
The items were confiscated and an on-site inventory was conducted in the presence of Department of Justice and media representatives, and barangay officials of Bagumbayan.
The rider was identified as 19-year-old Jayvie Paclay aka Nick Dave Johnson, a resident of Barangay Loccong, Tinglayan.
The items are under the custody of Tabuk CPS for documentation and proper disposition.
Meanwhile, personnel of the Pinukpuk Municipal Police Station, 50th Infantry Brigade, and Department of Environment and Natural Resources Bantay Gubat recovered 828 board feet narra lumber in an abandoned van at Barangay Wagod, Pinukpuk.
The discovery of the narra flitches with market value of P66,268 was a result of a report from a concerned citizen.
Police Provincial Director Col. Davy Vicente Limmong expressed appreciation to the concerned citizen who gave the information.
“Let this be an example of the importance of community participation in peace and order and public safety concerns. I urge the constituents of Kalinga to actively take part in promoting peace and order by reporting crimes and suspicious activities in their communities to the police so we can act accordingly,” he said. – Peter A.
