Customers of a mall chain in Baguio City are invited to help raise funds to purchase shoes for children who need them most by donating points they earn upon shopping.

The SM Store, in partnership with the SM Foundation and World Vision, held at SM City Baguio the first regional launching of Share Shoes, one of its corporate social responsibility programs for this year.

Share Shoes aims to raise three million loyalty points to purchase 10,000 pairs of shoes for World Vision and SM Foundation kids.

SM Advantage Card (SMAC) members, who earn loyalty points when they purchase items from The SM Store and participating stores and affiliates, may opt to donate earned points to the cause.

SMAC is the loyalty program of SM where when they shop, members get to earn points that become like cash which can be used to pay for items.

“It could be typical to collect pre-loved shoes but not everyone has access to well-fitted shoes. We thought the best way to do this is for customers who may choose to donate earned SMAC points. When you don’t know where to use your SMAC points, maybe you can donate your points that we can use so we can buy a pair of shoes, and it could go to the kids who need them most,” said Gilda Patricia Maquilan, The SM Store senior assistant marketing manager, during the launching.

SMAC Senior Asst. Vice President Jay Beltran said the earned loyalty points now have the power to change the lives of children reason why they want to seek support to encourage SMAC members to use those points to donate.

Beltran said SMAC to date has six million SMAC members and SM had issued over one billion points.

“SMAC is partnering with SM Foundation in doing something new. It is our passion to make sure the values of generosity and giving,” she said.

To donate, log in to www.smac.ph then select transfer points. Enter [email protected] and encode the number of points one wishes to donate. Validate the donation by entering a one-time PIN, then complete the transaction.

Participating cards include SMAC, SMAC Prestige, and BDO SMAC.
