TABUK CITY, Kalinga – The Philippine Statistics Authority joined forces with the Department of Social Welfare and Development in locating and registering persons with disability in the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys).

“This collaboration is set to deliver significant impact in fostering inclusivity of PWDs to various government programs and sector benefits. It also aims to empower PWDs by granting them access to government services while recognizing their unique needs”, Maribel Dalayday, chief statistical specialist of PSA Kalinga, said.

During the recent registration conducted for PWDs, Dalayday said 21 individuals registered with PhilSys.

Four were also able to secure their ePhilIDs or the printable PhilSys ID which has the same functionality and validity as the PhilID while waiting for the physical PhilID.

PhilSys registration is also being conducted to beneficiaries of social welfare and development crisis interventions, Dalayday said.

In a related development, PSA issued a public advisory relative to reports received by the PSA pertaining to certain individuals presenting themselves to be PSA central office employees scanning PhilIDs in exchange for a certain amount.

“This is to inform the public that the PSA is not conducting any form of data collection or verification and scanning through unauthorized means. We strongly encourage the public to exercise caution and vigilance. Do not submit your PhillD or ePhillD, or any personal information to any individual or entity claiming to represent the PSA for scanning or data collection or verification. Such activities are unauthorized and could compromise your privacy and security,” the advisory states.

PSA further advised the public that if they encounter any person or organization claiming to be associated with PSA requesting their PhillD or ePhillD for scanning or other suspicious activities, report immediately to the Fraud Management Division of PSA through its email address at [email protected] or visit the nearest PhilSys Registration Center.

PSA enjoins the cooperation of the public in reporting such incidents which is vital in upholding the integrity of the PhilSys and safeguarding the privacy and security of every Filipino. – Peter A. Balocnit
