LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority in the Cordillera is urging the public to avail of its scholarship programs, as 7,497 slots out of 10,263 are still available.

“We ask our residents to take advantage of the scholarships. Napakarami nating slots for scholarship. Mag-avail sila kasi sayang ang opportunity,” said Tesda Asst. Regional Director and concurrent Benguet Provincial Director Jimmicio Daoaten.

The Tesda-CAR has a 2022 scholarship budget of P164,544,125, but only 27 percent of which have been used.

Daoaten said Tesda offers scholarships for different short-term trade skills and a diploma program pathway to a baccalaureate degree.

Scholars can avail of the training for work program, special training employment program, private education student fund assistance, rice extension services program, and “Tsuper Iskolar”, Tulong trabaho scholarship program.

Daoaten added aside from free education that covers the laboratory supplies, a scholar also gets insurance coverage for one year, a daily stipend of P160, Internet allowance, book allowance, and a tool kit to start a livelihood activity.

Personal protective equipment allowance is also provided to a scholar.

A grantee also gets a free competency assessment fee for national certification. – PNA
