The Department of Labor and Employment-Cordillera said recovery plan for workers affected by the Covid-19 pandemic is all set in line with the Bayanihan 2.

DOLE-Cordillera, in a video presentation at the Department of the Interior and Local Government-led Dagyaw Open Governance Virtual Townhall meeting, said the implementation of the Covid-19 Adjustment Measures Program (CAMP), Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Displaced/Disadvatages workers (Tupad) program, Abot-Kamay ang Pagtulong (AKAP), and Tabang OFW program form part of the recovery phase for the Covid-19.

Under the Bayanihan 1, there were 25,734 workers from 2,977 establishments that were provided assistance under the CAMP with a total disbursement of P128.67 million. Workers in the formal sector that applied but not covered during the first tranche of CAMP will be the priority beneficiaries this time.

In the previous implementation of the Tupad, 14,049 benefited with a total disbursement of P50,269,800.

For Overseas Filipino Workers, DOLE in partnership with the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration implemented AKAP in providing a one-time P10,000 financial assistance to displaced or repatriated OFWs.

As of October, there are 2,636 beneficiaries with a total assistance of P26.36M.

DOLE, OWWA, and the Commission on Higher Education recently forged a partnership for the Tabang OFW program, which offers a one-time tertiary education subsidy of P30,000 to qualified beneficiaries, primarily children of OFWs who returned to the country or lost their job due to the Covid-19.

With the easing up of community restriction and gradual opening up of the economy, DOLE-Cordillera expects the labor sector environment to move towards recovery.

DOLE, in partnership with the local government units through their Public Employment Service Office, helps in employment facilitation, career guidance and coaching, training referrals, and provision of labor market information.

The Dagyaw town hall meeting is conducted regularly in different parts of the country in line with President Rodrigo Duterte’s Good Governance Policy. Dagyaw is Hiligaynon for bayanihan.

Through the Dagyaw, the government reports to the people and also listens to their concern, encouraging and strengthening participatory governance towards nation building and in ensuring a safe, harmonious and progressive country. – Carlito C. Dar
