The Department of Health-Cordillera shared some reminders to the public on how to be safe and healthy this holiday season.

In an advisory on Dec. 21, the DOH-CAR reminded the public to keep a healthy mind and body, have and support healthy celebrations, have a healthy “handaan”, and avoid using firecrackers.

The DOH said since holidays may affect each person differently, it advised on maintaining a balanced and varied diet, staying active, getting enough rest and sleep, and surrounding oneself with positivity.

When with crowds and in gatherings, the public is urged to continue to practice good personal hygiene, regular handwashing, and wearing face masks when needed.

It also advised “giving safe, age-appropriate, and healthy gifts.”

During feasts and similar activities, DOH advised minimizing the consumption of fatty, sweet, salty and processed foods and alcoholic beverages. Instead, choose reasonable portions of healthful foods.

The DOH as well recommended finding safer alternative ways to make noise that do not involve the use of firecrackers, fireworks, or firearms.

“Bond with family and friends through harmless activities. Let us all welcome a blessed, prosperous and injury-free 2024 by celebrating the holidays safely, responsibly, and healthily,” the DOH-CAR said.
