Information Technology provider Sahei Core Technologies Company (SCTC) signed a memorandum of agreement with organic farmers in Benguet on Dec. 8 for the use of the Tiklis Crop Management Information System (MIS).

Partner farmer groups include La Trinidad Organic Practitioners; La Trinidad Organic Farmers Association (La Organica); Balili Organic Farmers Association; and Our Farmers Haven Federation, Inc.

The Tiklis Crop MIS, which was developed by SCTC, is a user friendly tool that will serve as a data bank of farm records, crop planning and crop programming among individual farmers, cooperatives, local government units, and national government agencies.

With this partnership, farmers may avail of printable reports such as farm profile, Tiklis Crop programming guidebook, and customized reports based on the template of the organization.

LGUs and government agencies may use the data as basis of technical assistance and trainings to farmers.

During the MOA signing, SCTC General Manager Rember Maguinsay said the endeavor is timely to push digitalization as a growth lever to farmers as well as consumers.

“We are fortunate to have this kind of technology offered to farmers for free. We are glad that the technology being provided are being embraced by our Benguet organic farmers with which we would want to expand, the Maguinsay said. He further said that this technology also targets consumers since there is an increased demand of high quality and sustainably produced food.

The Tiklis Crop MIS has the potential to provide farmers with the information and ability to meet various challenges and seize opportunities for growth.

Salamat ta ada daytoy, maysa a wagas nga pakasuruan mi. Dakkel nga tulong para kanyami karu nu ada problema ti farmers ket adda daytoy nga maasidegan,” said Mercy Andaya, a farmer representative from La Organica.

The SCTC aims to offer the technology to other individual farmers, LGUs, and other government agencies. – Jelly Potectan
