The Department of the Interior and Local Government in Cordillera, together with the National ICT Confederation of the Philippines (NICP) and the Department of Information and Communications Technology, has concluded the search for Digital Governance Award (DGA)last Oct. 15.

The DGA is an annual search to help stimulate e-governance in the LGU level; engage more LGUs and consequently, drive more inspiring stories and encourage more LGUs in involving and integrating ICT in their programs and solutions; and create better impact and perform their services better, said DILG Regional Director Araceli San Jose.

DGA shares the vision of establishing indices for LGUs across the country in hopes of harnessing the potential of ICT towards raising the bar of delivering quality and efficient public service.

“By drawing attention to the best practices in integrating ICT capabilities and solutions, the different sectors of society and LGUs are enabled in their roles as catalysts of change,” San Jose said.

DGA also aims to commend and collate best practices of LGUs in integrating ICT in their processes to serve as example and benchmarks to other LGUs, to improve local business ecosystem motivating the private/business sector to actively participate and/or invest in the growth of the LGUs, and to promote transparency in local governance.

DGA has four categories. The G2C Awards recognizes ICT-related initiatives of the LGU that cater to their individual constituents, customers, or clients.

The G2B Awards fetes ICT-related initiatives of the LGU that cater to the needs of business and business-related enterprises.

The G2G Awards features ICT-related initiatives of the LGU that promote interoperability among the different offices of and with the LGU.

The G2I Awards recognizes ICT-related initiatives of the LGU that aim to improve the internal process within the LGU.

A special citation will also be given to one winner per LGU. The special citations to be awarded are Innovative Use of Resources, which favors locally-developed systems and hopes to award LGUs with limited resources but are able to produce quality projects; and Transformational and Disruptive Solutions, which recognizes LGUs that offer novel and unique solutions to societal issues. – Press release
