An alumnus of Saint Louis University joined the country’s cream of the crop, placing eighth in the January 2024 Architecture licensure examination.

Ian Chan Lacatan Lolong placed eighth with a rating of 83.5 percent in the examination conducted on Jan. 24 and 26.

The examination was topped by Sherilyn Reyes Baniago of the University of the East-Caloocan with 85.50 percent rating.

The Professional Regulation Commission announced that 1,809 out of 2,933 passed the examination.

Another SLU alumnus, Dave Dangao Portacio, made his hometown proud by becoming the first known registered architect from Kabugao, Apayao.

In a Facebook post by the province of Apayao, Portacio was born and raised in Kabugao and is a graduate of SLU. He also successfully passed the master plumber licensure examination in February 2023.

The registration for the issuance of professional identification card and certificate of registration will be done online starting March 18. Applicants are advised to proceed to the www.prc.gov.ph website and follow instructions for initial registration.

Successful examinees should personally register and sign in the roster of registered professionals.

Earlier, PRC-CAR Director Juanita Domogen said examinees from the Cordillera perform well in the health, engineering, and architecture courses during licensure examinations.

Based on their data, first is the physician licensure exam, where Cordilleran examinees with a passing rate of 69.58 percent, followed by mining engineers at 67.11 percent, architects at 57.41 percent, medical technologists at 55.66 percent, electronic technicians at 55.22 percent, respiratory therapists at 53.47 percent, registered master electricians at 52.92 percent, pharmacists at 51.01percent, registered electrical engineers at 48.57, and librarians at 47.78 percent. – Ofelia C.
