Three Baguio-based mountain bikers were crowned as champions in the recently held Hataw Bacnotan Mountain Bike Enduro race held on May 1.

Khastner Fanged of SayoteBoiz/GBC emerged as champion in the open category while Marky Trinidad of BehindBarsBikeshop Baguio topped the 40 to 49 years old age category with Jason Herbolario of Mount Descend/BILT Bikes ruling the 50 and above category.

Fourteen other riders from the highlands made it to the top 10 of their respective categories, a proof that riders from the Cordillera are perennial contenders in Enduro races.

In the 13 below category, Ezeckiel Carantes placed fourth, while Vrenj Carantes placed fifth in the 14 to 19 ca-tegory. Both riders represented Mount Descend.

Completing the top 10 were SayoteBoiz riders Michael Langaoan, sixth; Sean Sacgaca, ninth; and Lee Steven Cohoy, 10th

In the 20 to 29 age category, Mead Nathaniel Dulay of F1 Cycles missed out on the top spot and settled for second place instead while John Michael Chiday of SayoteBoiz placed fourth.

First time racers Lyle Cabansag and Gio Renzo Garcia of Team Sickboiz placed seventh and ninth in that order.

In the 30 to 39 age category, Mark Tangan of BehindBarsBikeshop Baguio finished at sixth place while Jay Camero of Ulrich BFC placed fourth in the 40 to 49 age category.

In the special category of Hardtail bikes, Al Odra of 34B/Aldos Singko placed seventh while Erckiel Olores of SayoteBoiz and Dyvan Grant Bungallon of Team Sickboiz placed eighth and ninth, res-pectively.

The event was a two-stage race that attracted 112 riders from different places.

The day before the Bacnotan race, Jay Camero of Ulrich BFC, together with Vince Dangiapo of 7DayAdventures/BehindBarsBikeshop Baguio raced at the 4th San Jose Enduro Challenge in San Jose City, Nueva Ecija.
