City officials led by Acting Mayor Faustino Olowan reminded people planning to visit Baguio to stop taking chances in entering the city without proper documents and requirements lest they experience being sent back to their places of origin.
“Some observations reached us that there are people attempting to enter the city without proper documentation and registration and concerns were expressed on how heartbreaking it is to see that these people, some of whom with children in tow, were sent back to their places of origin,” he said.
“This has to stop so people would be spared from having their time, energy and money wasted,” Olowan added.
The city has sustained the strict entry protocols even after reopening the city to tourists after the Delta variant surge.
As a result, hundreds of entrants, mostly tourists trying to skirt the city’s protocols, had been turned away at the checkpoints and triages set up along the major highways which now include Kennon Road.
