BONTOC, Mountain Province – The tricycle fare in this capital town has increased effective March 25. 
Mayor Franklin Odsey issued Executive Order 5, s. 2022, providing a provisional increase of tricycle fare in Bontoc in response to the petition filed by the Bontoc Federation of Tricycle Operators and Drivers for a fare adjustment due to the continuous increase in the prices of fuel and spare parts of tricycle units. 
The sangguniang bayan earlier approved Resolution 432, s. 2022 authorizing the mayor to suspend the implementation of ordinance/s providing the tricycle fare rate as well as to issue an order providing a provisional increase of tricycle fare rate in Bontoc pending enactment of the another ordinance allowing a provisional increase.
From P9, regular fare increased to P13 for any distance within the cut-off points. 
Students, senior citizens, and persons with disability are entitled to a fixed discount fare of P10 covering any distance within the cut-off points.
Students are not entitled to discounted fare during Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays. 
A maximum fare of P15 shall be charged for any tricycle travel covering the full and complete distance from and to any two cut-off points.
Students, senior citizens, and PWDs shall have a discounted fare rate of P12 for tricycles covering the full and complete distance from and to any two cut-off points. 
On the road towards Mainit, the cut-off point is in Pattig-Peleo residence; on the road towards Maligcong, the cut-off point is at Am-anani-Falluyan’s residence and Mopreco compound; on the road towards Tocucan, the cut-off point is at Pingew-Tangilag gasoline station; on the road towards Talubin, the cut-off point is at Anayah’s Restaurant, Samoki; on the road towards Alab, the cut-off point is at Malabong’s Place at At-ato. 
The provisional fare rate shall only apply to tricycles for-hire, which has a valid and renewed Municipal Tricycle Operators Permit for 2022.
Tricycles that have not yet renewed their franchise/s shall not have the privilege to collect the said new rate or to operate for-hire.
Tricycle operators are advised to visit the Office of the Mayor to secure a copy of the new and revised fare matrix to be posted inside their tricycles. – Alpine K. Malwagay
