Outdoor enthusiasts are set to converge in Tublay, Benguet for the “Tublay Ridge Run,” today.

The event, organized by the Team Pinikpikan Trail Runners, will have its start and finish line at the Ridge Cafe at the Ambassador view deck.   

“This event aims to promote Tublay as a package of tourism activity as the local government prepares to reopen its tourism on selected sites,” the organizers said.

Categories for the event will be the 10 kilometers with maximum of 70 participants and the 21-km. with maximum of 80 participants.   

Assembly time is at 4 a.m. and gun starts at 6 a.m. for the 21-km. and at 7 a.m. for the 10-km.

Participants must be 15 years old and above for the 21-km. and 12 years old and above for the 10-km.

Proceeds from the event, which is in coordination with the local government unit of Tublay, will go to outreach projects and programs of the organizers.

On Nov. 27, the “The Ridge Downduro”, a fun ride for-a-cause for those affected by the recent typhoons in Cagayan, was also set at the ridge.

The organizer, 18 Degrees Outdoor, has generated P21,180 from the fun ride with the cash out for food and logistics at P5,500; transaction fee at P50; and P15,560 for the aid.

The aid was donated through the Mountaineering Federation of The Philippines, Inc. which conducted rescue and relief operations in the area that was heavily affected by Typhoon Ulysses. – Ofelia C. Empian
