The Research Innovation Extension and Community Outreach of the University of Baguio offered a free computer system support and engineering consultation services to the public at the Malcolm Square, Baguio City on March 13.

The outreach program was part of the university’s 75th year anniversary celebration.

Organizers of the outreach program include the Department Of Information And Communications Technology, UB’s Management Information Systems (MIS), School of Information and Technology (SIT), School of Engineering and Architecture (SEA), and Campus Planning and Development Office (CPDO).

Services under the MIS and SIT are computer or laptop repairs, installation of free open-source software, virus scanning, free troubleshooting, reformatting, and consultations regarding purchasing their laptops, gadgets, and other electronics.

SEA services were on structural design, sanitation, public awareness about the effects of open defecation, waste management practices, and guidance regarding building permits.

The CPDO offered services on occupational safety and equipment maintenance.

Majority of those who consulted in the outreach program were parents, students, and elderly. – Janina Camiller
