The University of the Philippines Baguio and the Council for Baguio Creative City (CBCC), in cooperation with the City of Baguio and the Baguio Arts and Crafts Collective, will hold the concert, “Crescendo” in celebration of Baguio Day on Sept. 1.
The live classical concert with the theme, “Healing in Harmony,” will feature Baguio’s best in the classical music genre including Kay Balajadia-Liggayu, Glenn Gaerlan, Stefanie Quintin-Avila, Ingrid Payaket, Reis Luke Damaguen, and Divina Bautista.
A donor-ticketed concert, Crescendo aims to continue to lift spirits towards healing. Award-winning theatre and film director Ferdinand John Balanag, who originated the concert theme, will direct the performances which will be held at the UP Baguio’s Teatro Amianan.
The concert is the latest public service extension activity of the university which earlier provided venues for income generation activities to support local farmers, artists, artisans and entrepreneurs, and had frontline protection support initiatives for the locality and as far as Region 1.
CBCC Vice Chair and UP Baguio Chancellor Raymundo Rovillos said crescendo, a musical concept meaning the progressive increase in intensity, is a metaphor for Baguio rising up to recover from this pandemic.
Rovillos added the concert is for the crescendo of the collective spirit of Baguio which is resonant with the message of “AngatTayo Baguio.”
Cresendo will be live-streamed online on Sept. 1 from 5 to 7 p.m. Donation tickets at P300 will allow online access to the concert.
Tickets for live broadcast with al fresco dinner are also available at P1,500 and P500, respectively for viewing and dinner at the Manor in Camp John Hay and Solibao Restaurant in Burnham Park.
The concert will benefit both the Good ACTS (Artists, Craftspeople and Tourism Support) and the UP Baguio Educational Foundation, Inc.
