MALIBCONG, Abra – The construction of a level 2 water system in the remote barangay of Duldulao in this town is expected to serve more than 500 residents when fully operational.

The water system project is 100 percent completed as of June 20 and is subject for final inspection. The contractor will only do some finalizations before its turnover to Duldulao barangay.

The project worth P3 million is funded under the Support to Barangay Development Program (SBDP) of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict  (NTF-Elcac).

The monitoring team of the National and Cordillera TF-Elcac visited the site last week to ensure the project conforms to the standards for SBDP projects.

The construction of the water system project started March 5. Residents already started benefiting from the water system testing operation with its 27 tap stands around the vicinity of the barangay.

Duldulao Punong Barangay Talledo Dugayen said more than 500 residents will benefit from the water system project if fully operational.
Malaking ginhawa para sa mga taga-rito sa amin ‘pag natapos na ang water system ng Elcac dahil matagal na panahon na limited ang supply ng tubig dito sa Duldulao,” said Dugayen.

Dudulao is one of the listed priority barangays for the SBDP projects in 2021. It is more that 60 kilometers away from the capital town of Bangued, which takes more than three hours of travel.

Aside from the water system, a local access road and high school building are also being constructed under the SBDP.

The monitoring team is composed of representatives from the Department of the Interior and Local Government, National Intelligence Coordinating Agency, Philippine National Police, 24th Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army, Philippine Information Agency, and the Abra Provincial Engineering Office. – Christian Allister Tubadeza
