KIANGAN, Ifugao – Residents of this town who are not wearing face mask when outside their residence and are not observing physical distancing will now be penalized.

The Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Ifugao gave a favorable review to this town’s ordinance that requires the mandatory wearing of face masks and observance of physical distancing as protection from the Covid-19 and other emerging or reemerging life threatening respiratory infections and communicable diseases.

The ordinance mandates all persons to wear face masks and other improvised masks when in public places. Wearing of other personal protective equipment is also encouraged.

The measure also requires all commercial establishments to display the signages, “No facemask, No Entry” and “Observe social/physical distancing including disinfectants.”

Those who are not wearing a face mask shall not be allowed entry to an establishment. A logbook shall also be provided to fast-track contact tracing.

Violators will be penalized with a fine of P50 or render one hour community service on first offense, P100 or two hours of community service on second offense, and P200 or four hours of community service on third offense.

Establishments that do not comply will be fined P50 on first offense, P100 on second offense, and P200 and revocation of business permit on third offense. – Marcelo B. Lihgawon
