Not the time for cha-cha

The move to amend anew the 1987 Constitution is untimely, especially during a pandemic we are now facing.
It takes a lot of time to frame a new one or introduce amendments, conduct thorough educational campaign, and have a credible referendum.
Priority should be in delivering effective public health services, reviving the economy, creating more jobs, producing sufficient food, opening schools, enhancing moral values, improving Internet connectivity, and restoring the vibrancy of the environment.
We should set aside the call for charter change that purports to advance political aspirations.
Only when we are able to recover and attain normalcy could we confidently dance the cha-cha gracefully. — PERCIVAL B. ALIPIT, Baguio City
