To help augment the financial resources of Benguet province during the coronavirus disease-2019 health crisis, legislative caretaker Rep. Eric Go Yap of ACT-CIS has donated P1 million to the province.
Yap said in a statement the fund would be used for the province’s various hospitals particularly Benguet General Hospital.
“We lack the protective equipment needed by our medical personnel as well as other needs of the hospital,” Yap said.
He said the financial aid, which was received by Gov. Melchor Diclas in behalf of the province, came from his personal fund.
The caretaker said additional funds were also allotted to district hospitals in the province to attend to the medical needs of the community, as well as additional funds for DSWD for those in need.
The Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers is a program of the Department of Labor and Employment, which is a community-based package of assistance that provides emergency employment for displaced workers, underemployed and seasonal workers.
The Benguet Congressional District Office also distributed 80 boxes of vitamin C to the first 80 registrant senior citizens in the province.
As of the moment, the congressional office has closed since March 26 for physical quarantine until further notice.
Yap, who is the chairperson for the Committee on Appropriations sponsored the House Bill 6616 or the Bayanihan We Heal as One Act of 2020 which was both passed by the House and Senate on March 23.
Yap assured the law would make sure that all families affected by the ongoing enhanced community quarantine in the country would be properly aided.
Wala tayong iiwanang sektor o kahit sino pa man, lahat ay mabibigyan ng tulong,” he said. – Ofelia C. Empian
