The event is joint project with the Rotary Club of Manila Metro, the local chapter of Rotary International, a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide community service projects to resolve the world’s most persistent issues, including the promotion of peace, goodwill, and supporting education.
Angel Digol, IPYG Philippines national coordinator said the event aims to engage the youth in the nation’s peace building effort to create a culture of peace. Dance can move the hearts of many people. The performances must convey to the audience the importance of peace and the role of youths in promoting the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW) as an instrument in achieving peace. This way, the competition becomes a powerful platform to spread a ‘culture of peace’.”
The DPCW is a document drafted by international law experts to be implemented as an international law for the cessation and prevention of wars. For the full text of the DPCW, visit: www.hwpl.kr.
