LAGAWE, Ifugao – One hundred seven farmer organizations in the province received farm machinery from the High Value Crops Development Program (HVCDP) of the Department of Agriculture.

The organizations received power sprayers, grass cutters, and rotavators from the provincial government.

Vice Gov. Glen Prudenciano led the delivery and turnover of the equipment to the beneficiaries in the different municipalities. He was joined by Provincial Agriculturist Domingo Mariano, HVCDP coordinator Benjie Lunag, Board Member Josel Guyguyon, and the mayors.

The machineries were purchased by DA through the initiative of Prudenciano and funded by the Office of former Sen. Kiko Pangilinan.

Prudenciano said he chose the equipment as they are easy to use.

“These equipment are given to the farmer organizations to ease their burden of farmers in manual labor, reduce the time spent, and encourage farmer organizations to manage the equipment for their benefit to increase food production and income of the farmers through their organizations. This is also to strengthen the farmer organizations by providing them machinery and giving them tasks to take care of these equipment for longer use,” he said.

Prudenciano said they will look into programs that will strengthen and capacitate the farmer organizations. He encouraged other organizations to register to be qualified for future programs of the province and of the region. – Florida B. Robles
