After two years of absence, the Apaches Golf Tournament is back.
It was a two-year absence for the annual golf tournament for the all-Baguio boys club which had its initial run in 2011 when it was launched under the term of Art Bueno at the Baguio Country Club golf course.
The tournament was cancelled the past two years due to the lockdown brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic.
“We are definitely holding it now,” said Apache Chief Rey Anthony Olarte, who took command of the club founded in 1939 by Baguio pioneers including two former Baguio mayors – Ernesto Bueno and Francisco Paraan.
Olarte said the group was allowed to stage the tournament after Baguio City was declared under alert level 1 late February right after the Omicron variant-induced surge early this year.
Again, it will be a System 36 event and will be held at its “home”, the BCC golf course when it tees off on April 2 with tee time starting at 6 a.m.
It will have three categories in the men’s side – A, B, and C – and one for the lady parbusters.
Ticket is at P1,000 for BCC members and P1,800 for non-BCC members that entitle ticket holders to raffle, meal, and mulligan.
It will also have special awards including most accurate drive, nearest to the pin, and longest drive.
Interested players may contact Paul Kristian Darang and avail of the ticket that can be paid via GCash at 0915-270-0102. – Press release
