One hundred ten of Baguio’s 128 barangays are cleared of illegal drugs while four are unaffected as of Jan. 6, according to the Baguio City Police Office.
In its barangay drug clearing operation report during the City Anti-Drug Abuse Council (Cadac) quarterly meeting, Tuesday, Lt/Col. Max Sumeg-ang representing BCPO DirectorAllan Rae Co reported that three barangays are undergoing drug clearing operations; 10 are re-affected/resurgent; and one is under Pres. Rodrigo Duterte’s barangay narco list.
Unaffected barangays are Country Club Village, Upper Dagsian, Happy Hallow, and Lower General Luna while those that are undergoing drug clearing operations are Pinget, Irisan and Bakakeng Central.
Sumeg-ang said resurgent/re-affected barangays are Dominican Hill, Lourdes Subdivision Extension, Fairview, Happy Homes, Sto. Niño Slaughterhouse compound, Outlook Drive, Gibraltar, Loakan Proper, Kayang Extension, and Kayang Hilltop.
Lower Magsaysay is on the PRRD narco list.
West Quirino Hill was declared cleared of illegal drugs on Dec. 17, 2019, but still awaiting certification.
The quarterly meeting was conducted by the Special Services Division of the City Mayor’s Office.
The Cadac is a coordinating body mandated to look into and reconcile all anti-drug abuse interventions of government agencies, the local government and private sector in order to formulate a holistic approach in curbing the proliferation of illegal drugs in the city that pose a serious threat to the youth’s future. – Gaby B.
