The mayors of Benguet were urged to establish their own quarantine facilities especially for returning Overseas Filipino Workers or residents coming from outside Benguet.

Gov. Melchor Diclas said he has given the directive to the mayors in case the returning OFWs are not able to go through the quarantine facilities provided by the national government or the established facility at Teachers Camp, Baguio City.

The city government of Baguio recently opened Teachers Camp as a quarantine facility for returning OFWs  who are residents of  the city, Benguet, and Mountain Province.

Diclas said there are lapses in the implementation of quarantine procedure for returning OFWs, as there are those who go straight to the municipalities without going through the quarantine facilities.

During the meeting of the Provincial Inter-agency Task Force on Covid-19, there are mayors who said their towns have prepared quarantine facilities.

La Trinidad Mayor Romeo Salda said they have prepared an area as an isolation facility at Bektey, Longlong, Puguis in partnership with Benguet State University.

Salda said they have also requested DepEd for the use of schools in the different barangays. They have initially identified the schools at Barangay Ambiong, Pico, Beckel, Lubas, Alno, Buyagan, Alapang, and Bahong to be used as quarantine facilities.

Diclas said they are also preparing the training center in Wangal, La Trinidad as a quarantine facility for those who  tested negative but need to complete the 14-day quarantine. – Ofelia C. Empian
