Mountain bikers are set to converge in Besao, Mountain Province for the “First Tour of Besao” on March 4.

Organizer Samuel Egsaen of Team Kalasag said the event aims to raise funds for the construction of a school building at Saint James High School in Besao.

The event also aims to promote Besao as a haven for tourists with its majestic rice fields, mossy forests, magnificent waterfalls, and the world-famous Besao sunset, Egsaen added.

Dubbed “Bike for Saint James 2”, the event would also promote camaraderie and strengthen friendship among all bike enthusiasts, especially in the province.

The event features six categories, which are 17 years old and below, 18 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 49, 50 and above, and 85 kilograms and above. 

Gun starts at 8 a.m. for all participants who will navigate 42.2-kilometers around Besao.

Bikers will start at the municipal hall at Kin-iway towards Payeo going to Besao Proper, Banguitan, Bunga, Catengan and Panabungen where they will be making a U-turn.

Bikers will then trace their routes to Catengan, Bunga, Banguitan, Besao Proper, Payeo, and finally ride back to Kin-iway with the finish line at the municipal hall.

Registration is open at Glow Enterprise, a bike shop behind Allied Bank at Km. 4, La Trinidad, Benguet.

Registration fee is P1,000 inclusive of lunch and T-shirt. There will be no on-site registration.

Prizes await champions and runners up during the event backed by Glow Enterprise in coordination with the local government of Besao.
