RIZAL, Kalinga – Two local access roads worth P9.5 million were inaugurated in this municipality on Jan. 24.
Gov. Ferdinand Tubban, Department of the Interior and Local Government-Cordillera Director Marlo Iringan, DILG Provincial Director Max Mayer Adong, Rizal Mayor Karl Baac, members of the sangguniang bayan, and other local officials led the inauguration of the Depalog-Villejo and Alaminus access roads at Barangay Liwan West and Babalag West.
The projects were funded under Local Government Support Fund-Assistance to Municipalities (LGSF-AM) of the DILG and were implemented by the local government unit.
Both projects were issued notice to proceed in November last year with 120 days to complete, but the LGU completed the same on Jan.18, Adong said.
He said Rizal is the first LGU to implement the 2019 LGSF-AM projects in the Cordillera.
Adong said other LGSF-AM projects for 2019 provided in other municipalities include a local access road in Dao-angan, Balbalan; a bridge in Lubuagan; an evacuation center in Pasil; concreting of Gumbowoy access road in Tanudan; and upgrading of Poblacion to Dananao access road and construction of an evacuation center in Tinglayan.
The LGSF-AM aims “to equitably assist all municipalities in the delivery of basic services by providing financial subsidy to municipalities for the implementation of their priority programs and projects.”
Projects funded under the program include local access roads and bridges, potable water system projects, construction of evacuation center and procurement of disaster risk reduction-related equipment, and construction of small water impounding projects, rain water catchment facilities, sanitation and health facilities, and municipal drug rehabilitation facilities. – Peter A.
