In a society where acts of honesty and integrity are sometimes overshadowed, the commendable actions of Christopher Sigua and Troy Chumapoy from the Mountain Province General Comprehensive High School (MPGCHS) serve as a shining example of moral uprightness and good faith.

HONEST STUDENTS — Faith in humanity has been restored anew when Christopher Sigua and Troy Chumapoy, both students of Mountain Province General Comprehensive High School, returned to the owner a wallet containing P50,000 and important cards. The municipality of Bontoc led by Mayor Jerome Tudlong, Jr. commended the two students, as the mayor also rewarded them P2,000 each from his personal fund. — Bontoc PIO

During the flag raising ceremony at the Municipal Capitol grounds, Bontoc Mayor Jerome Tudlong, Jr., presented certificates of commendation to Christopher Sigua and Troy Chumapoy.

Tudlong praised the boys for embodying the values of honesty and good faith, reflecting the true essence of an i-Fontok.

“The boys’ decision to do the right thing speaks volumes about their character and upbringing. Their story serves as a true inspiration and a reminder to everyone about the importance of integrity and honesty in our daily lives. The story of Christopher and Troy shines as a beacon of hope and goodness. Their simple yet profound gesture of returning the lost wallet restores our faith in humanity and serves as a powerful reminder that doing the right thing is always rewarding in more ways than one. May their example inspire us all to follow the path of honesty and integrity in our own lives, making our communities a better place for everyone,” the mayor said.

The mayor gave the boys P2,000 from his pocket.

Christopher is the son of Maybel Madchalang Sigua and Antony Jose Sigua, while Troy is the son of Marie Kidpo Chumapoy and Henry T. Chumapoy, Jr.

The boys, who are neighbors in Pokisan, Barangay Bontoc Ili, Bontoc, Mountain Province, grew up together. – Press release
