Craving for that special dish that you saw on TV, Instagram or YouTube, or ate somewhere, sometime ago?

Was it Asian, European, North American or Filipino gourmet food?

Crave no more.

This coming Oct. 22, the Baguio General Hospital Advisory Board will sponsor the “2nd International Food festival 2023” at Session Road. It’s a Sunday so bring your family.

This is the second time the board will sponsor the International Food Festival. The first one was done on Oct. 27, 2019 prior the pandemic. The main goal of the  project is to complement the needs of indigent patients, especially the children, in terms of surgery and medicines at the same time to let the people of Baguio enjoy sumptuous food.

For this year, Antoinette Hamada of the Baguio Midland Courier took the reigns as committee chair.

Exploring the gastronomical world through a taste of international cuisine is a fascinating adventure through diverse flavors, ingredients and traditions. Not to mention, the celebration of United Nations Day in October. Another international event. Added to this year’s appetizing  event is the presence of the Cordillera coffee and chocolate.

Cordillera coffee is  a much sought after product by visitors to Baguio. The aroma in  itself is enough to give a unique experience to food enthusiasts. The walk through Session Road, the heart of the city,  is bedazzling. The aroma of coffee combined with the scent of an  array of flavors is reminiscent of global culinary enchantment.

Masarap tumayo sa daan at magmasid masid sa paligid habang umiinom ng café at tumitikim nang pang dayuhan pagkain di ba?

The variety of gourmet food and coffee is something to whet your appetite with.Bring the kids! Let them enjoy face painting and live sketching and other photo opportunities!

The advisory  board headed by Joseph Rulla is an auxiliary body of the BGHMC which in turn is headed by Director Ricardo Runez. The board is composed of heads of the different non- government organizations or private sectors and government organizations or local government units and  former staff members.

The beauty of this partnership is that it links the hospital to the community and vice versa. Indefatigable members of the Board do the “touch your heart project” in the spirit of volunteerism for the welfare of needy patients.

SM City Baguio jumped started the activity with a donation of P100,000 handed over by SM City Baguio head Michael Jason Pena to advisory board head Joseph Rulla and witnessed by the working department heads and regional heads of SM City Baguio with the  board of trustees.

This undertaking is in collaboration with the BGH Medical Center, the City of Baguio, the Baguio Museum, the Midland Courier and SM City Baguio.

The bandwagon is joined by an extravaganza of food and coffee gourmets the likes of: Ligaya Gomez of  Happy Tummy ( Thai and Filipino cuisine and drinks), Julian Shakya (Himalayan and Nepalese cuisine), Vonda Alabanza’s (Baguio’s original logganisa), Hansel David and Hollan Co of King Chef’s  Dimsum Kitchen (Orchard Hotel and That Little Café – Chinese and  Filipino), Mark and Aisha Hamada (Schublig frankfurters and sandwiches), Sherwin Faguingas of Mokuha Café, Aulivia  Ong of Fiesta Chills, Grace Calleja of  Balbacua Bellyhon and Breakfast, Omeng Fallarme of Bleu Carrot Food Truck, Angeleah Montilde of Koko Mo Choco, the StarwayHotel Baguio, Chris So of Mei Hwa (Chinese),  Earle Farrel of  Teppan on Wheels (Japanese).

You don’t have to go to Japan or Vietnam, we have them here at our own backyards. There is a fusion food, tacos and nachos.
