LAMUT, Ifugao – Three local government units in the province are among the government partners honored by the Cagayan Valley Center for Health Development Quirino-Nueva Vizcaya-Isabela-Ifugao Southern Blood Services Zone for their continuous support to its blood donation program.
The Sandugo award was conferred to the local government of Lagawe and barangay local government units of Halag in Aguinaldo and Umalbong in Hingyon for their support and commitment to the National Voluntary Blood Services of the Department of Health through regular community blood donation drives.
Lagawe was adjudged as outstanding municipality while Halag and Umalbong are outstanding barangays.
Lagawe and Halag and Umalbong registered the highest number of volunteer blood donors during the conduct of community blood donation drives and have met one percent of the total population for 2020 and 2021.
The Sandugo Outstanding Government Organization was awarded to the 54th Infantry (Magilas) Battalion for having the highest donation with minimum of two mobile blood donations with 30 donors for 2020 and 2021.
Representatives of said offices received the awards at the 3K Hotel, Santiago City, Isabela last week.
The Sandugo award is given to LGUs, government organizations or units, the private sector, and individuals in appreciation of their contributions and support to the National Voluntary Blood Service.
Republic Act 7719, also known as the National Blood Services Act of 1994, promotes voluntary blood donation to provide sufficient supply of safe blood and to regulate blood banks.  – Marcelo B. Lihgawon with reports from MJ Gahid
