Many of the best golfers from the 13 towns of Benguet and guest parbusters will see action during the two-day Adivay Golf Cup 2022 set at Pinewoods Golf & Country Club on Nov. 11 and 12.

This year’s tournament organizers announced the format will be an inter-municipality competition wherein each town will field a team of five players, but only the four best scorers will be counted at the end of the tournament.

The organizing committee has tasked local contractor Casio Paris, Jr. as this year’s event chairman.

Fee for early registrants from Oct. 18 to 31 is P2,800 per player and P3,000 per player for those who will register from Nov. 1 to 10. The fee is inclusive of green fee, cart, and mulligan.

There will also be a putting competition with a registration fee of P250 per participant.

Players will choose the date they are available to play, which will be held through a shotgun.

The scoring system will be Stableford plus the player’s handicap index.

Awards will be team champion and first runner-up while the individual awards are gross and net scores. The special awards are nearest to the pin, longest drive, and hole-in-one.

The competing towns are La Trinidad, Itogon, Mankayan, Sablan, Buguias, Kibungan, Kabayan, Bokod, Atok, Tublay, Tuba, and Bakun.

To accommodate players without Benguet roots, the organizing committee said there will be an open division for golfers outside the province such as those from Baguio City and rest of the country.

The annual Adivay Golf Cup is one of the most competitive tournaments in the localities, as all players want to bring pride and glory to their respective hometowns.

The golf tournament also has its civic program wherein some of the proceeds of the previous events were given to terminally-ill patients, including assistance to the caddies.

This year, proceeds of the tournament will be allotted as financial assistance to screened patients. – Harley F. Palangchao
