Thirty-five fathers, male volunteers, and staff members of the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) underwent the Empowerment and Reaffirmation of Paternal Abilities Training (Erpat) last Nov. 16 and 17 at Chalet Hotel.
Spearheaded by the CSWDO, the training aims to highlight the development and enrichment of knowledge, attitude, and skills of fathers in performing their roles and responsibilities. 
After the training, the participants together with the social workers assigned in their respective barangays committed to implement the Erpat in their barangays to educate and involve more men in responsible parenting. 
Erpat has eight modules discussed by Social Workers and trained facilitators: Module 1: Understanding Myself as a Person discussed by SWO III Myrna Valencerina of CSWDO; Module 2: Accepting my Role as a Father; Module 3: Becoming my Wife’s Best Friend discussed by Pastor Octavio Muncada of Life Journey Church; Module 4: Fathers as Child Caregi- vers by Social Worker Bernardo Cadaon of Department of Social Welfare-Cordillera-Regional Rehabilitation Center for Youth;
Module 5: Fathers as Advocate in the Prevention of Family Violence by Maj. Jeffrey Salvador of Baguio City Police Office-Tourist Police Unit; Module 6: Fathers as Advocate in the Prevention of HIV-AIDs by RMT Michelle Dominique Garcia of the City Health Services Office; Module 7: Fathers as Advocate in the Promotion of Drug-Free Home by Vincent Carlo Tabirara of Odyssey Hub Treatment and Rehabilitation Center; and Module 8: Promoting Family Spirituality by Pastor Carlito Calaoa of Peace Co-venant Church.
