BONTOC, Mountain Province – Thirty-five patients undergoing dialysis at the Bontoc General Hospital received cash assistance from the provincial government last July 21.
Gov. Bonifacio C. Lacwasan, Jr. handed P2,598 each to the beneficiaries, witnessed by Provincial Health Officer I Carolyn D. Yawan, BoGH Supervising Administrative Officer Nitz Lampac, and gender and development focal person Joecan L. Basan.
The cash assistance came from the proceeds of the walk-for-a cause organized by the provincial government’s Gender and Development Council as part of this year’s Women’s Day celebration last March.
“The amount maybe small but we hope that it will lessen your burden and will at least help you as you undergo your treatment. Rest assured that we, your officials, will do what we can to continue improving services of our hospital. We are also praying that this current health crisis will pass so that we can easily find ways and means to help you,” Lacwasan said.
The charity event generated a total of P90,930 which was equally distributed to the patients.
The recipients expressed their appreciation and gratitude to the provincial government.
“The amount will help us a lot. I will use the money for my fare in coming to the hospital during my dialysis schedule,” one recipient said. – Erwin S. Batnag
