Close to 500 dancesports participants from the country and abroad are expected to compete in the first Cordillera Dance Festival online competition set Oct. 23 to 24.

Participants from the country will be from Zamboanga, Metro Manila, Antique, Iloilo, Cagayan De Oro, Ilagan City, Benguet, Marikina, Cebu City, Misamis Occidental, Quezon Province, Olongapo, Aklan, Baguio City, Davao, Lucena City, and Dumaguete.

Event organizer Charibelle Pingawan, founder and president of DanceSport Cordillera Inc., said participants from Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, and Korea will also see action in the online competition through Zoom.

Pingawan said the first online dancesport competition mounted in Northern Luzon with the support of the Philippine Dancesport Federation will feature Latin and standard discipline.

The solo event features the juvenile, junior, youth, grades D, C, and B.

The duo events are juvenile, junior, youth, and open while the couple events are grades C and B.

For the couple events, participants, who must wear face mask while dancing, must secure and submit barangay certification stating partners are staying together in one place for at least one month.

The event will also be broadcast live on Results Philippines Facebook account and Dancesport TV on YouTube.

There will be 23 adjudicators during the two-day event, with 19 coming from the Philippines and one each coming from Spain, Korea, Indonesia, and Italy.
