The Department of Social Welfare and Development released P3.65 million financial assistance to flash flood-affected families in Ifugao.

In a report published on its Facebook page, the DSWD-Cordillera said an additional 425 families affected by the July 7 flash flood in Banaue, Ifugao received P5,000 each on July 11.

This was in addition to the 306 family beneficiary representatives who received the same amount on July 10.

The DSWD also provided 401 sets of sleeping kits, five boxes of hygiene kits and family kits, and five boxes of kitchen kits.

The 700 family food packs prepositioned in Banaue, Ifugao have also been distributed as among the immediate assistance to the affected families,” the DSWD said.

DSWD-Cordillera Director Arnel Garcia assured Ifugao has a sufficient supply of food with over 1,500 family food packs already prepositioned even before the disaster hit.

The DSWD-Cordillera’s regional warehouse in La Trinidad, Benguet, meanwhile, has at least 20,000 family food packs that can be transported to a calamity-stricken area anytime.

In a social media post on Tuesday, the DSWD said that each family food pack contains 10 canned goods, six kilograms of rice, five sachets of coffee, and five sachets of cereal.

The DSWD also applies quality assurance measures in all its food packs to ensure that the contents are safe for consumption. – PNA
